23 years ago, the world changed forever — and no, we’re not talking about global catastrophes, wars, or the invention of gourmet desserts. We’re talking about cinema. More specifically, the zombie horror genre, which took a sharp turn in 2002 with the release of Danny Boyle’s 28 Days Later. The film followed a man, played by Cillian Murphy, who wakes up from a coma only to discover the world has plunged into a full-blown zombie apocalypse.

A hauntingly empty London, untrustworthy survivors, and Cillian Murphy’s soul-piercing gaze helped turn the film — and its cast — into global stars. Boyle followed up with the sequel 28 Weeks Later in 2007, further expanding the bleak, adrenaline-charged universe.

Fast forward to 2024, and the long-awaited third installment is finally in development. Boyle returns to the director’s chair, joined by a stellar cast including Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Ralph Fiennes, Cillian Murphy, and Jodie Comer. The plot seems to center on a human settlement and a dangerous journey taken by a man and a boy into an infected zone.

The trailer teases gripping visuals, a tense atmosphere, and a glimpse at the new characters and setting.
28 Years Later hits theaters on June 20, so mark your calendars — and keep your eyes open.
