We all know that Marvel Studios is set to release one of its most anticipated films this year: “The Fantastic Four: First Steps”, directed by Matt Shakman. The film has been in production for several years now, but both the teaser and official trailer were only recently released. The new trailer features plenty of fresh footage that sheds light on what we can expect from the upcoming movie.

The clip gives us our first real look at the team suited up, during a presentation scene hosted by Mark Gatiss (Sherlock). Fans also finally got a glimpse of Mr. Fantastic using his superpowers — something Marvel had kept under wraps until now.

Perhaps the biggest surprise was our first look at the Silver Surfer, who in this adaptation will be portrayed as a woman, unlike the traditional male version from the comics.

The story will take place in an alternate universe, rather than the main MCU timeline — an important detail for those following the internal Marvel lore. However, it’s widely believed that the characters will eventually cross over into Avengers 5 and 6, where they are expected to play a major role.
