Back in 2010, Disney delighted fans with a sequel to Tron (1982) — a film that had become one of the most iconic sci-fi movies of the 80-s, known not only for its cult following, but also for its groundbreaking use of 3D graphics, which were still a novelty in cinema at the time.
While the sequel brought back Jeff Bridges and had a unique visual style, it fell short of many fans’ expectations. Despite its ambition, “Tron: Legacy” only achieved moderate box office success, grossing $409 million against a $170 million budget.

In 2023, Disney officially announced a new entry in the franchise — Tron: Ares — with Jared Leto and Evan Peters set to play major roles.

Leto, known for his unconventional and often controversial role choices (such as the underwhelming “Morbius” and “Haunted Mansion”), seems to be aiming for a fresh start with this high-profile Disney blockbuster.

The newly released trailer features stunning visuals, including a sleek, neon-red motorcycle and our first real glimpse at Leto and Peters in character, as well as the film’s official logo. “Tron: Ares” is set to hit theaters worldwide on October 10 — so get ready.
