“Verona is the city of love…” When I wrote down this phrase, I thought that perhaps it could be app lied to every single city in Italy! For example, Venice is the city of love, Milan is the city of love, Rome is the city of love, and, of course, Verona is the city of love.
Everyone knows that Juliet’s courtyard is located exactly in Verona. William Shakespeare captured this city for centuries, a city where a huge number of tourists come primarily to see Juliet’s courtyard.
Of course, when you get there for the first time and see how small the courtyard and the balcony are, where supposedly was the main character of the tragedy “Romeo and Juliet”, you might think: “Was it really worth coming here?” However, when you realize that by coming here you can touch something amazing, a fictional story that has filled people’s minds for such a huge amount of time, then you understand that it is probably wonderful and it IS worth it!
In the courtyard, there is a statue of Juliet Capuletti, near which an incredible number of tourists take pictures every day! I recommend you watch the magnificent film “Letters to Juliet”, which will reveal something new to you, perhaps a new perspective on unconditional, endless, ageless love and the belief that love is always beautiful.
Verona is also famous for its ancient Roman amphitheatre called Arena di Verona, built around 30 AD. It is located in the main square of the city, Piazza Brà. Arena di Verona is a world-famous active concert venue where famous singers and musicians have performed. Opera festivals are held here every summer. If you are planning to go to Verona, make sure to check out the Arena di Verona website and book a ticket for an event held there. This will make your trip to Verona special.
Verona has a large number of mini-hotels, various small apartments that you can rent, so take a look and book your stay in advance.
If you are going to come in July or August, keep in mind that the air temperature in Verona can reach +40° at this time. Due to the fact it is a stone city, it is really very difficult and hot to walk around in this period. Therefore, I recommend coming here at the end or middle of September and from April to June.
Verona has very beautiful boutiques and shops, both branded and no-name, but in each of them you can find something special for yourself.
Be sure to plan a shopping day to walk leisurely through the shops and enjoy the process.
Enjoy this city of love and come back here again!
